Bears Players Lend A Hand In Tornado Cleanup

(CBS) -- A little more than two weeks ago deadly tornadoes nearly leveled parts of northern Illinois.

CBS 2's Jeremy Ross was there Friday as one very special team arrived to help.

The extra muscle from the Chicago Bears is welcome.

The team gave the United Way $100,000 to help tornado victims. There was nothing in the playbook, however, preparing either tight end Blake Annen or defensive tackle Will Sutton for their view of the destruction.

In addition to the donation the Bears offered, the representatives also gave a very meaningful gift to one fan.

The Bears replaced Tyler Rowan's autographed Brian Urlacher jersey. His was destroyed in the tornado that hit Fairdale.

It had been a Christmas gift from his grandmother, Geraldine Schultz, who died in the violent storm.

"To give me that memory again means a lot to me," Rowan said.

The Chicago Bears are planning to revisit the community sometime this summer.
