Minor Amtrak train derailment causes Metra delays at Union Station

A minor Amtrak derailment blocked some platforms at Chicago's Union Station early Monday morning.

Metra reported just before 6 a.m. that customers on its BNSF and Southwest Service commuter lines might experience arrival delays.

As of Monday at 3:45 p.m. a Metra spokesperson said two platforms at Union Station are still affected and Metra riders could see some delays through the evening commute.

A spokesman for Amtrak said track repairs at Union Station are under way and are expected to last a few days. There were no injuries and trains are operating, but could experience minor delays.
