2 Uber passengers wounded in Dan Ryan Expressway shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were shot while riding in an Uber on Friday night on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Illinois State Police said the shooting happened shortly before 9 p.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan near 59th Street.

The Uber driver dropped off the two shooting victims at an area hospital, then drove to the Englewood District Chicago police station to report the shooting.

The victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from the hospital.

Illinois State Police recovered two shell casings from the scene of the shooting on the Dan Ryan.

No one was in custody Saturday night. Illinois State Police asked anyone who witnessed the shooting or might have other information on the attack to call police at 847-294-4400, or to email ISP.CrimeTips@Illinois.gov. Witnesses can remain anonymous.
