16-year-old boy shot while walking on Chicago's North Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 16-year-old boy was seriously hurt after being shot while walking in the North Sides's Budlong Woods neighborhood Wednesday night.
The shooting happened around 9:41 p.m. on California near Berwyn Avenue.
Police initially gave an address of the 5700 block of North California Avenue, but the correct address turned out to be half a mile south.
According to police, the victim was walking on the sidewalk when shots were fired.
Ald. Andre Vasquez (40th) said a preliminary investigation indicated two vehicles may have been in a chase when the shooting occurred.
The victim was dropped off at nearby Swedish Hospital by a friend and was last listed in serious condition with gunshot wounds to the body.
A bullet hole was also seen through the window of a nearby home.
No arrests were made.
Belmont Area detectives were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
