Young Firefighter Dies In Berkshire County Rollover

WINDSOR, Mass. (AP) — An up-and-coming firefighter from Hinsdale has died in a weekend rollover crash in the town of Windsor.

State police say a car driven by 26-year-old Nicholas Daniels rolled over on Route 9 at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Daniels was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt. No one else was in the vehicle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Hinsdale Fire Chief Larry Turner tells The Berkshire Eagle that Daniels' death has stunned his department. Turner says Daniels was well liked and on the verge of taking a state test to become an emergency medical technician.
