Vandals Strike Art Display In Worcester Park

WORCESTER (CBS) -- Worcester police are still looking for vandals who defaced an Elm Park sculpture display over the weekend.

Six sculptures out of 28 were vandalized, and two were destroyed. But the annual "Art In The Park" went ahead with its grand opening on Sunday in spite of the damage.

"At one point I did think about canceling the whole thing, I will admit that," Art In The Park Executive Director Gloria Hall said. "But. . . [the vandalism] doesn't represent the whole city, it doesn't represent those people who want to come and appreciate art."

The remaining sculptures in the park can be seen through Oct. 11

The Art In The Park website is accepting donations to help them compensate the artists whose works were lost.
