Shades Of Summer

The official start to Fall may be just over a week away but summertime warmth is hanging on strong! After a slightly below average day yesterday, our temps will rise into the 80s today and remain there through the start of the weekend.

Today's high temps top out 10-15 degrees warmer than yesterday.

Our quiet stretch is all thanks to a big ridge of high pressure establishing itself across the eastern US. Humidity should stay in check the entire week as well, only creeping up ever so slightly by Saturday. I'm not going to lie, I don't mind patterns like this. Sure, we could certainly use some rain. Boston, for example is running nearly 6" below normal for precipitation and almost 50% of the Northeast is abnormally dry. And yes, this dry stretch could impact our foliage season; if it's too dry, leaves tend to drop prior to reaching peak color. But keep in mind that warm days, cool nights and sunshine are important ingredients for great leaf peeping. So maybe it will all just even out. When it comes down to it, I know days like these are numbered. Before long, many of us will be complaining about the snow and cold – so might as well enjoy this stretch while we have it! Carpe diem. And don't forget your shades.

Next chance of showers doesn't arrive until Sunday.
