Clerk Wrestles Gun Away From Armed Robber In Randolph

RANDOLPH (CBS) - Surveillance video from U.S. Gas in Randolph shows an armed robber and store clerk fighting over a gun.

It was around 1 A.M. Tuesday, a man arrived at the window looking to buy cigarettes. The overnight clerk got them and when he went to hand them out the door, the man pushed his way into the office. The two men wrestle, struggling across the office.

When a car pulled up, the clerk managed to move the fight outside and take the gun. The robber ran off.

Robbers have targeted the business before; It's the only 24-hour self-serve station in town. That may explain why the clerk called 911 and then pumped gas to a waiting customer.

Randolph police recovered the revolver and said it was not loaded. They stress they do not advocate wrestling a gun away from someone.

Officers are still looking for the suspect.
