Phantom Gourmet: Greater Boston Gastropubs

BOSTON (CBS) - Traditional beer bars are getting a major upgrade in terms of their food. Dan Andelman of the Phantom Gourmet visited some local gastropubs.

The Washington Square Tavern in Brookline was one of Greater Boston's original gastropubs, serving refined food and a wide selection of craft beers.

McCabe's on Mass. Ave. in Cambridge offers over 20 microbrews on tap and seasonally inspired small plates and sandwiches from braised brisket to duck confit sliders.

Barrel House in downtown Beverly is a trendy bistro that sources locally both in terms of the food and the brews.

Some other notable gastropubs include Hops N Scotch in Brookline and Cambridge, The Gallows in the South End and Kirkland Tap and Trotter in Somerville.

For more food and fun, watch the Phantom Gourmet Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 and 11 a.m. on MyTV38.
