Transformer Fire Causes Outages In Newton, Shuts Down Part Of Green Line
NEWTON (CBS) -- An Eversource transformer fire caused thousands of customers to lose power and a section of the MBTA's Green Line to be shut down Monday.
Eversource said over 7,000 customers were affected, mainly in Newton with some in Brookline. They said power was restored around 1:20 p.m.

The MBTA said shuttle buses were replacing trains between the Riverside and Reservoir stops on the Green Line's D branch due to the power outages.

Around 2 p.m., the MBTA said the buses were being phased out and that moderate delays were to be expected.

The outages brought an MBTA Fiscal Countrol Board meeting to a halt Monday, as managers left to deal with the issue.
