Market Basket Worker Arrested At Epping, NH Store
EPPING, N.H. (CBS) – Several days of peaceful protests at Market Basket supermarkets around New England were interrupted by an arrest in New Hampshire.
Epping Police told WBZ-TV a worker at the store there was arrested Tuesday morning.
Brian Johnson, 37, of Derry, was charged with reckless driving after he allegedly sped through the parking lot while officers were looking into complaints about people videotaping workers.
Those people told officers they were hired by Market Basket's corporate office to monitor the store.
Police believe Johnson was upset with the monitors being there.
No one was hurt.
This is the first arrest connected to the Market Basket protests.
Thousands of employees have been rallying at stores every day for the reinstatement of fired CEO Arthur T. Demoulas.
Demoulas was fired in June by a board controlled by his cousin, Arthur S. Demoulas. Both are grandsons of Market Basket's founder and their feud dates back decades.
Warehouse deliveries to Market Basket stores have stopped during the protests and there's no word yet when store shelves will be re-stocked.
