Man Trapped, Severely Burned In Chelsea Apartment Fire

CHELSEA (CBS) -- A man trapped in a fire in Chelsea is now in critical condition.

It happened Sunday night in an apartment on Essex Street.

Firefighters rescued a family from the second floor of one home and then found a 49-year-old man trapped on the first floor.

He was severely burned.  He was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where he spent the night in critical condition.

A family dog was feared lost in the fire, but was later found safe.

Everyone else was accounted for.

There's no word yet on the cause of the fire.
