11-Year-Old Girl Killed In 2-Car Crash In Lawrence

LAWRENCE (CBS) – An 11-year-old girl was killed in a two-car crash in Lawrence Saturday evening.

The vehicles collided at the intersection of Parker and Andover streets around 6 p.m. Several people were hurt.

"All I heard was bang, crash, and skid," said Diane George, who called 911. "I saw people laying on the ground. There was two kids in the black car. There was a girl on the ground here. There was a girl on the ground over there."

"One of the little girls was getting CPR. They took her out of this black car and were giving CPR right over here into the ambulance," she told WBZ-TV.

Massachusetts State Police said a little girl died. The Essex District Attorney's Office said she was just 8 years old.

"A suspect is in custody," said Carrie Kimball, a spokesperson for the D.A. "As soon as more information is available, it will be released."

One man who did not want to be identified told WBZ how he dragged a victim out of one of the cars.

"I grabbed her and put her outside, tried to comfort her, but I didn't know how," he said. "The little girl too. Three of them, four of them. They all looked like they were in pretty bad condition."

Both cars were towed away hours after the crash.

"Really bad," said George. "I'm praying like crazy for the families."

An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the victim's age, based on information provided by the Essex County District Attorney's office.
