Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation Of 2 Jamaica Plain Homes

BOSTON (CBS) -- Contractors struck a gas main inside a vacant house in Jamaica Plain Friday afternoon, leading to the evacuation of nearby homes, fire officials say.

Firefighters received a report of a gas leak at a three-and-a-half-story home on Amory Street around 2:49 p.m., according to the Boston Fire Twitter page.

Homes on both sides of the vacant property were evacuated as a precaution. No one was hurt during the incident.

An inspector was asked to respond, fire officials said, and the scene was cleared shortly before 4 p.m.
