Delta Will Make All In-Flight Entertainment Free This Summer

BOSTON (CBS) – Delta flyers are getting an entertainment upgrade this summer at no charge to them.

The airline has announced that starting July 1, free in-flight entertainment will be available on 90 percent of its aircrafts.

That includes hundreds of movies, TV shows, songs and 18 live satellite TV channels that can be watched on a seat-back screen or streamed on a passenger's personal device.

Other carriers like JetBlue and Virgin America have long offered TV on board, but Delta says it is the first to offer this much in-flight entertainment for free.

Delta's announcement comes following last month's report showing that U.S. airlines made record amounts of money in 2015.
