Boston University Students Warned About Groping Incidents

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston University police are warning students to be on alert following three reports of women being indecently assaulted Monday evening.

The descriptions are similar in each case – a man approaches the women, gropes them, and flees the area, the school said in a text message.

The first assault happened between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Chester and Ashford streets in Brighton. Two more assaults were reported between 855 Commonwealth Ave. and the BU Bridge.

The attacker is described in all cases as a white man, 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 165 pounds. He reportedly has very short hair and wore a blue-ish gray shirt with tan cargo shorts.

"The Boston University Police are asking for our community to help in identifying this individual," police said. "Use caution when walking along and make sure you are alert as to your surroundings."

A similar assault was reported early Saturday morning, when two women said they were groped on Gardner Street in Allston at about 1 a.m. The victims said the man approached from behind and groped their buttocks before fleeing toward Ashford Street.
