Boston Mass Planned For Students Killed In Balcony Collapse

BOSTON (AP) — The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston is holding a Mass of Remembrance for the Irish students killed when a balcony collapsed during a party last week in Berkeley, California.

The service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, followed by a reception where social workers will be available. A book of condolence will be available to sign before the Mass, but those unable to attend may also sign it at the Irish Consulate in Boston.

Six people, including four Irish exchange students, were killed June 16 when the balcony snapped off the fifth floor of an apartment building. Thirteen people were tossed onto the street 50 feet below. Seven people remain hospitalized.

The Boston remembrances are sponsored by the Irish Pastoral Centre and the Irish International Immigrant Center.
