Report On Failed Boston 2024 Olympic Bid Expected

BOSTON (AP) — Boston is no longer in the running for the 2024 Olympics, but a consultant that had been hired by state officials to analyze the bid has been moving ahead with its work.

Gov. Charlie Baker's administration expects the Brattle Group's report to be made public as early as this week. Baker has said he expects the conclusions to be useful even though the Olympic effort is history.

Baker, House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Senate President Stan Rosenberg announced the $250,000 hiring of the Cambridge-based consultant in June. They said at the time they wanted advice on potential exposure that state taxpayers could face if the games were awarded to Boston and costs exceeded projections.

The U.S. Olympic Committee and organizing group Boston 2024 severed ties last month amid sagging public opinion polls.
