Attleboro Police Discover Meth Lab After Responding To Overdose Call

ATTLEBORO (CBS) -- Police discovered a meth lab while responding to an overdose call at an Attleboro condominium on Sunday.

Police arrived shortly after 12:30p.m. and found the resident, 52-year-old Robert Acheson, inside. Officers also found several chemicals, containers and paraphernalia suggesting crystal methamphetamine was being made.

Acheson was arrested and taken to the hospital for a possible overdose, police said.

Residents in the area of the home on Knight Ave. were evacuated as a precaution.

"I think it's terrible, I mean, it's right by the elderly housing, there's a lot of kids on that side of the street," neighbor Leroy Goulette told WBZ-TV.

"You always wonder, you always worry about today's people some of them are just a little crazy out there." another resident said. "And you wouldn't think there would be a meth lab a stone's throw away from your house almost."

State Police bomb squad and hazmat units spent the afternoon at the residence.

Acheson is being charged with manufacturing crystal methamphetamine. He is due in court on Monday.
