North Reading Woman Killed, Husband Injured When Tree Falls On Car In Andover

ANDOVER (CBS) – A North Reading woman was killed and her husband injured after a tree fell onto their car while driving in Andover.

Massachusetts State Police confirmed that the woman was pronounced dead at Lawrence General Hospital after the accident on Route 125 near Wildwood Road.

Her husband was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police did not release the identity of either person. WBZ-TV has learned that Elizabeth Roszkowski died in the crash.

Elizabeth Roszowski was a passenger in the car. Her husband Chris was driving.

Route 125 was closed for two hours while the accident scene was cleared, but has since reopened.

"I heard a pretty incredible bang," said Art McDermott, who witnessed the tree crashing down. "I was just amazed when I saw the damage."

Pastor Mark O'Connell of St. Theresa Parish called Roszkowski "a beautiful, beautiful soul."

"We're still very shocked what happened to Elizabeth," said O'Connell. "She would have been here tomorrow. She's here most every day."

Massachusetts State Police a tree falling onto a passing car is "very rare."

On Thursday a Sutton man was killed in Oxford when a tree fell and landed on his car.

No further details are currently available on the Saturday incident.
