Amendola The Only Patriot Missing From A Chilly Friday Practice

BOSTON (CBS) -- With temperatures hovering around the freezing point and the windchill in the mid 20s, it was perfect football weather down at Gillette Stadium on Friday.

It's the kind of weather Bill Belichick loves his players to play in, with the Patriots taking the field in shells as they prepare to host the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

They nearly had perfect attendance for their chilly practice, too, as receiver Danny Amendola was the only player absent from the session. Amendola suffered an ankle injury last Sunday against the Rams and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season.

But other than Amendola, New England's health is trending in the right direction as they get ready for the Ravens. Safety Jordan Richards returned to the field on Friday after missing the last five practices (and Sunday's game against Los Angeles), while special teams captain Matthew Slater and tight end Martellus Bennett were both out there for their second practice of the week after missing Wednesday's session.

New receiver/returned Griff Whalen was also present on the field, after being signed earlier Friday morning.

The Patriots will hit the practice field one more time on Saturday prior to Monday night's game.
