WEATHER BLOG: Sunny Saturday

A partly sunny and rather mild day as a cold front approaches and then passes through the area Saturday afternoon and evening. With some modest atmospheric heating and strong upper level energy, some spotty gustier showers and thunderstorms will develop from Washington, D.C. into southern New England.

Given the track of the upper level energy, I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of the showers/storms generated a wind gust in excess of 30 mph in a location or two. This risk will quickly end from west to east Saturday evening as drier and cooler air filters down from the Lakes.

Sunday looks looks dry and seasonable -- a pleasant day. The trough will be slower to depart New England, so it will throw back some clouds into the Mid-Atlantic. Viewers should be encouraged to get out and enjoy the decent weather because the upcoming week will feature more clouds than sun and quite a bit of rain! Some O's games could be jeopardy of a rain-out this week, especially the Wednesday game, at this point!
