WEATHER BLOG: Flash Flood Watch

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through late tonight for Central Maryland as evening storms threaten the greater Baltimore area. The main threat of these storms is heavy rain because the air is extremely juicy with dew points near or above 70 degrees and P-WATs approaching and eventually surpassing 2.0 inches. It is not a slam dunk that every given location will have drenching downpours, but we do have to cover for some across the area, especially tonight. Although we can't rule out a strong wind gust with any storm, damaging winds are more of a threat for areas south and west of Baltimore. The strongest and heaviest storms will likely move in between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. tonight. Remember your severe weather safety tonight: "Turn around, don't drown."
