WEATHER BLOG: Chilly Night On Tap

High pressure building in from the Ohio Valley will be short lived, but still keep us dry through Monday afternoon. We expect skies to turn out mostly clear tonight, allowing temps to plummet with areas of frost/freeze, especially north and west of the metro. A frost advisory goes into effect at 2 a.m. tonight and will remain in effect until 9 a.m. Monday morning for Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties. Monday will start out on a very chilly note, but temperatures will moderate by the afternoon into the low to mid 60s.

A storm system dropping into the Great Lakes will lead to increasing clouds on Monday. This system will cause some showers Monday night into Tuesday. The slow movement of the system will keep the threat for rainfall in the forecast through Thursday as the center of the storm spins off the coastline. Due to the showery nature of this storm system, many areas will generally average only 0.2 to 0.4 inches of rain through Thursday.
