Washington County Officials Planning Emergency Drill At Mall

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Authorities in Washington County are warning residents they'll be conducting an emergency exercise at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown this weekend and say residents should not worry if they see numerous emergency vehicles.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office says the drill will take place Sunday beginning at 6 p.m. The sheriff's office says the purpose of the exercise is to evaluate the response of police, fire and medical personnel during an emergency event.

The sheriff's office organizes training drills at a variety of locations throughout the county and says that the mall was last used as a training location in 2010.
