Washington Co. Charity Collects 17k Toys For Needy Children

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Toys for Tots in Washington County has raised roughly $23,000 and collected 17,000 toys for needy children.

The local arm of the national charity collects toys at drop-off boxes at 33 businesses across the county, The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports (http://bit.ly/2dB02JF ).

The charity aims to collect 40,000 toys and $30,000 by Christmastime.

Roughly 1,000 children have already requested toys. The last day to request a toy is Nov. 30. Toys will be distributed Dec. 10 and 11.
