Police ID Victims Electrocuted In Chevy Chase

CHEVY CHASE, Md. (WJZ) -- A mother and child were killed on Saturday after they were electrocuted at their home in Montgomery County.

Rescuers responded for a reported electrocution  just before 4:30 p.m. to the 8800 block of Connecticut Ave.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that a 29-year-old mother and her 4-year-old daughter were found unresponsive outside of the home in the stairwell leading to the basement. Both were transported to an area hospital where they later died from their injuries.

On Sunday, the victims were identified as 29-year-old Crystal Puderbaugh and 4-year-old Lily Puderbaugh.

Investigators say they found a sump pump in the standing water near the victims.

The Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the cause of death for Crystal as a combination of drowning and electrocution. Lily was electrocuted to death, officials said.

This incident remains under investigation.
