Physical Therapy Clinics Agree To $2.7M Settlement

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal officials say two companies that operate physical therapy clinics in Washington, Virginia, and Maryland has agreed to pay $2.78 million to settle allegations that they falsely billed for services.

U.S. District Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. announced the settlement with Alliance Rehabilitation LLC and Active Physical Therapy Services LLC on Wednesday.

Prosecutors say the two companies falsely claimed that some services were rendered or directly supervised by a physical therapist who had no involvement in the services rendered.

Officials say the companies billed Medicare and TRICARE.
