Overturned Tractor Trailer Spills Loads Of Potatoes Along Capital Beltway

FORESTVILLE, Md. (AP) -- A tractor trailer overturned along the Capital Beltway in Prince George's County, injuring the driver and spilling its load of potatoes along the median.

The truck overturned early Wednesday on the outer loop before the Pennsylvania Avenue exit in the Forestville area, closing one lane during the morning rush.

Maryland State Police Cpl. Anthony Washington says the driver was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with a significant arm injury.

Washington says investigators are looking at whether the driver fell asleep.

Crews worked for hours to clear the truck and spilled potatoes from the scene.
