New Navy Commissary To Open In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A new commissary and Navy Exchange complex is opening at Naval Support Activity Annapolis.

An opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday.

Construction of the new complex began in February 2013. The project has increased the size of the commissary from 25,800 square feet to about 51,500 square feet.

The new complex includes an outdoor garden area, a barber shop, a beauty shop, an optical store, a jewelry store and a food court. There also is a Navy Federal Credit Union branch.

Commissaries and exchanges are open to active duty military members, retirees and their families. The complex is expected to serve a customer base of more than 84,800 authorized shoppers, including active duty, national guard and reserve, retirees and their family members within 20 miles of the store.
