Nearly 2 Dozen Displaced In Howard County Apartment Fire

LAUREL, Md. (WJZ) -- Nearly two dozen people are displaced after an apartment fire in Howard County.

It happened at the Country Meadows Apartments in Laurel.

Flames were spewing through the roof when crews first arrived on the scene.

It took 60 firefighters from three different departments to put the fire out.

Authorities say 22 people from 12 apartments were displaced.

Two residents were treated on-scene. A third man was taken to an area hospital for an ankle injury and second-degree burns. No firefighters or paramedics were hurt.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

Initial damages are estimated to be at more than $1 million.
