Lockdown Lifted At Montgomery College After Armed Man Pointed Gun At Security Guard

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (WJZ) -- Montgomery College's campus in the Takoma Park, Silver Spring area was on lockdown due to after an armed man pointed a gun at an unarmed security guard.

Police said the man was spotted by students just before 8 a.m. on the third floor of the student services building., WUSA9 reported.

The suspect then pointed the gun at the security guard who was responding to the report.

Just before 9 a.m. the college tweeted," There is police activity on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus. The campus is on lock down."

Police describe the man as a black male with a red hat, a long sleeve black shirt, black sneakers and black pants. He was seen carrying a black backpack.

The lockdown was lifted around 9:24 a.m.

The college tweeted: "Takoma Park Police have cleared the scene."

Police are still looking for information about the suspect.
