Man Pleads Guilty To Stabbing Woman He Met To Buy Video Game

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A man who prosecutors say slit the throat of a woman he met to buy a video game from has pleaded guilty to assault and robbery.

Thirty-three-year-old Charles Leonard Smith entered the plea Monday in Washington County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say on Dec. 15, 2014, Smith met with a woman in a partially wooded area in Hagerstown. The woman had advertised an XBox 360 game system for sale on the Hagerstown Yard Sale Facebook page.

Authorities say Smith stabbed the woman, dragged her into the woods and tried to pull her pants off. Someone heard the woman screaming and called 911.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that prosecutors will recommend a 25-year prison term for Smith. A pre-sentence investigation will be conducted.
