Man On Probation In Baltimore Jail Corruption Gets 10 Years

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after prosecutors say he sold heroin while on probation for his role in a sweeping corruption case at Baltimore's city jail.

Thirty-three-year-old Marlow Bates Jr. was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Baltimore. He had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession of heroin. Bates was among 14 indicted in the drug case in September 2013 after prosecutors say a wiretap recorded them arranging heroin transactions.

At the time, Bates was on probation for his 2009 conviction involving the Black Guerilla Family. In that case, Bates was sentenced to nearly four years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute drugs into the Maryland corrections system and the Baltimore city jail. He was released in September 2012.
