Loyola Beats American University

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Tyler Hubbard scored 20 points as Loyola (Md.) dealt American University its first conference loss of the season with a 62-58 victory on Wednesday night.

Hubbard sank 6-of-7 3-pointers during the game. The Greyhounds (10-12, 5-6 Patriot) went 48.7 from the field overall, 77.3 percent from the free throw line and 70 percent from 3-point range.

Franz Rassman added 11 points and three rebounds for the Greyhounds. Jordan Latham came off the bench to score 10 and R.J. Williams chipped in seven points, four rebounds and three steals.

The loss snaps an 11-game winning streak for American University.

Darius Gardner led the Eagles (14-8, 10-1) with 19 points, four rebounds and four steals. Jesse Reed had 16 and Tony Wroblicky scored 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
