Joint Maryland Offices Opening For Driving, Hunting Licenses

ESSEX, Md. (AP) — Maryland residents will be able to get their hunting, fishing and driver's licenses at the same place in Baltimore County.

The Maryland Department of Transportation and the Department of Natural Resources have opened the state's first combined office in Essex.

Mark Belton, DNR's secretary, and James Ports, the deputy secretary of the transportation, are scheduled to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the facility on Wednesday. Motor Vehicle Administrator Christine Nizer also is scheduled to attend.

It's the latest step by Gov. Larry Hogan's administration to increase efficiency in state government.

A separate DNR service center in Dundalk was closed. It has been moved into the Essex facility to create a one-stop shopping point to obtain licenses to drive, hunt and fish in the Middlesex Shopping Center.
