Former Baltimore Principal Charged With Stealing From School Fund

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Authorities say a former Baltimore principal has been charged with stealing from the high school's student activity fund to make personal purchases.

Maryland State Prosecutor Emmet Davitt says former Western High School principal Alisha Trusty was indicted Monday. She is charged with theft and misappropriation of more than $60,000.

The indictment alleges that Trusty used a debit card linked to the school's student activity account to purchase personal items and pay bills.

Authorities say that the 38-year-old Trusty earned a second salary from an educational institution while on sick leave and being paid by the Baltimore City Public School System.

A spokesman for the state prosecutor says Trusty currently lives in Dallas and works for Teaching Trust in that city. A phone number could not be found for her.
