Baltimore's New Year's Eve Celebration Canceled Due To COVID-19 Pandemic

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore City announced it has canceled its traditional New Year's Eve Spectacular due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but WJZ will still host a virtual event.

Current COVID restrictions prevent such a large gathering from happening in-person.

The annual event is a special night full of live music, celebration and fireworks.

Mayor Brandon Scott and other organizers say they will miss the regular tradition, but the public health is a top concern.

WJZ will host a virtual event starting at 11 p.m. on Dec. 31. You can watch it here.
