2 Boys, 8 And 10, Shot In Back In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore police say two young boys are expected to survive after they both were shot in the back.

The shooting occurred late Saturday night and was one of several violent incidents in the city this weekend, including two homicides. Baltimore has been experiencing a surge in violent crime since late April, after the death of Freddie Gray in police custody led to protests and civil unrest.

Police say the boys were on a northeast Baltimore shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday when they were shot. One victim is 10 years old and the other is 8 years old. Both were taken to hospitals. Police say an unknown person entered the block and started shooting.

Police are also investigating two other nonfatal shootings that occurred early Sunday morning.
