2 Firefighters Injured Fighting Springdale Home Fire

SPRINGDALE, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say two firefighters were injured fighting a house fire in Springdale and that the home's owner was away attending her husband's funeral when the fire broke out.

The Prince George's County Fire Department says firefighters were called Saturday afternoon to a house fire in the 3800 block of Endicott Place. Fire officials say no one was in the home because the owner and family members were attending the funeral of the owner's husband nearby. Officials say the fire did about $200,000 in damage.

Officials say one firefighter was hospitalized with second and third degree burns to his neck and shoulders. A second firefighter was injured by an electrical shock but has been released from the hospital.

Officials say the cause of the fire is undetermined.
