From the archives: Charles Kuralt anchors CBS News Special Report on the bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut on October 23, 1983. The bombing killed 241 servicemen including 220 Marines. It was the deadliest single day death toll for the U.S. Marine Corps the WW II Battle of Iwo Jima.
