Private messages on Timeline? Facebook responds

(CBS News) Facebook users may want to check their privacy settings as soon as possible. Some users are reporting that private messages written on the social network are showing up on their Timelines. But Facebook says the allegations are not true.
According to Metro France, messages that were written between 2007 and 2009 are showing up on Facebook Timeline. Even when the messages are deleted, they still appear on the Timelines of recipients of private messages, the newspaper reports.

/ YouTube(CNET) The Winklevoss twins, best known for their courtroom battles with Mark Zuckerberg over Facebook, are taking another stab at the social-networking sector.
Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have made a $1 million investment SumZero, a social network aimed at professional investors, The Wall Street Journal reports. The company was founded in 2008 by former Harvard classmates Aalap Mahadevia and Divya Narendra, the latter of which was a party to the Winklevoss twins' lawsuit that claimed they were misled about Facebook's value.

Facebook officially welcomes Instagram to family

(CBS News) It's official! Instagram is now part of the Facebook family.
"Our deal with Facebook has closed," the Instagram team said in a blog post Thursday. The company went on to say that the team will move into Facebook's office and that the popular mobile app "isn't going anywhere."

The DNC is creating several opportunities for supporters to engage on social media networks. An official app on Facebook lets users tweet their nominations on Twitter, using the phrase "I nominate Barack Obama because..." and the hashtag #INominateDNC. A DNC 2012 app has been launched for iPhones and Android devices. The app lets users view the convention schedule, explore Charlotte and follow convention tweets.

Facebook faces app privacy ultimatum in Germany

(CBS News) Facebook faces a potential lawsuit for allegedly violating privacy laws in Germany.
According to reports by IDG News Service, the Federation of German Consumer Organizations (VZBV), an advocacy group, says that Facebook must stop giving users' private information to third-party applications until it obtains explicit consent.
