Eighteen-year-old Kyndall Jack, right, and 19-year-old Nicholas Cendoya vanished during a hike in Cleveland National Forest on March 31, 2013. Another hiker found Cendoya dehydrated and disoriented on April 3, 2013, about a half-mile south of where much of the search was focused. Jack was rescued on April 4, 2013 near a waterfall in Trabuco Canyon. Sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Krause said Cendoya and Jack called authorities the night of March 31, saying they were lost about a mile from their car in Holy Jim Canyon, but their cell phone lost power soon after.
