Zimbabwe In Utah

Steep yourself in the culture of Zimbabwe without ever leaving the United State's shores.

The CBS News Sunday Morning Diversions feature this week takes viewers to an exhibition of contemporary African sculpture on display in the Red Butte Botanical Garden in Salt Lake City.

The exhibit is called Chapungu – which is the tribal word for eagle. The eagle is believed to be a good omen and a protector spirit. The spirited works are on loan from the Chapungu Sculpture Park in Zimbabwe, where they were hand carved from that country's natural stone by people of the Shona tribe.

Modern art from an ancient tribe, these monumental sculptures fit right in amidst the plants and flowers of the botanical garden.

The sculptures have been touring America, and will make several more stops before heading back to their home country in southern Africa.
