John Grisham's book "The Associate" is hitting the big screen with Zac Efron as its star.

The 26-year-old actor also produce a big-screen adaptation of Grisham's 2009 legal thriller, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Efron will portray a recent graduate of Yale Law School grad who takes on a job as an associate at the one of the biggest law firms in the world. Along with practicing law, though, he's asked to spy and cheat in a scheme that could send him to prison.

Shia LaBeouf was originally attached to star in the movie.

Many of Grisham's books have been turned into films, including "The Firm," "The Pelican Brief," "The Client," "A Time to Kill," among others.

Efron, who rose to fame in "High School Musical" will next be seen alongside Seth Rogen in "Neighbors," due out May 9.

He reportedly did a stint in rehab last fall and recently made headlines after supposedly getting into a scuffle with a homeless man.
