Will Ferrell to receive Comedic Genius Award

Will Ferrell will receive the first-ever Comedic Genius Award at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards in April.

"Will Ferrell epitomizes what it means to be a comedic genius and it's only fitting that he should be the inaugural recipient of this award," said Stephen Friedman, President of MTV. "Over the course of his extraordinary, 17-plus-year career, he has entertained audiences across the globe with an impressive array of laugh-out-loud performances on air, online and in films. Simply put, Will Ferrell is 'kind of a big deal.' "

Ferrell is known for his work in "Old School," "Elf" and "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy." He will play Ron Burgundy again in "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," due out later this year.

The complete list of MTV Movie Awards nominees will be unveiled on March 5. Fans can cast their votes after the announcement at MovieAwards.MTV.com.

The MTV Movie Awards, hosted by actress Rebel Wilson, will be broadcast live on April 14 at 9 p.m. ET.
