Why did the geese cross the road? To get their picture on Crimesider...

Police meet geese on Interstate 71 in suburban Cincinnati, Wednesday, April 25, 2012. WKRC

(CBS/AP) CINCINNATI - Two geese and some goslings twice brought rush-hour traffic to a standstill on a suburban Cincinnati interstate.

Ultimately, police had to block traffic Wednesday night on I-71 in Sycamore Township to guide the geese safely across the road.

WCPO-TV says someone called 911 that evening to report that geese in the roadway were forcing drivers to hit the brakes and veer out of the way.

Eventually, police arrived to clear a path for the birds to cross over to a grassy area. But less than a half-hour later traffic was stopped again when the geese returned to the edge of the highway, so police again escorted them away.
