(CBS News) The 16th annual Webby Awards was held Monday night in New York.

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg was honored with a Webby Award for Lifetime Achievement for his work with the Bloomberg media corporation.

The award was presented by Tumblr founder and chief executive officer David Karp, who reminded the audience that if it wasn't for Bloomberg's contribution to financial technology, we wouldn't have found out the cost of Facebook stock shares until Monday. Karp was referring to the social network's high-profile initial public offering (IPO) last Friday.

"Make it here, then everywhere," Bloomberg said during his acceptance speech. Recipients of a Webby Award were asked to limit their speeches to five words.

"We just want to thank..." actress Juliette Lewis and actor Graydon Sheppard said when accepting their award for Best Actresses in the viral video "Sh*t Girls Say." Comedian Louis C.K.,  who was honored with Webby Person of the Year award, had the crowd laughing with his witty acceptance: "When I die, bye bye."

"I think other award shows should accept this idea of five-word acceptance speeches," Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jamie Lannister in the HBO series Game of Thrones, told CBS News.

Mobile photo-sharing app Instagram, which was recently purchased for $1 billion by Facebook, was awarded with Webby Breakout of the Year. The award for Meme of the Year was awarded to Nyan Cat, who edged out the popular Tumblr blog "Texts from Hillary."

One of the night's highlights was a video tribute to the late Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple. Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, as well as Vice President Al Gore praised the tech luminary, thanking Jobs for his contributions to technology.

The ceremony was held at the Hammerstein Ballroom and was hosted by comedian Patton Oswald.
