Watch: White Sox manager grants sick girl's wish

Nine-year-old White Sox fan Emily Beazley always dreamed of being a star on stage. On Wednesday night, she got that wish and more - when Chicago manager and former White Sox star Robin Ventura appeared with her in a production of "A Christmas Carol."

As Larry Brown Sports reports, Emily was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. With help from the Goodman Theatre in downtown Chicago, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the White Sox skipper, she was able to perform in the play.

"I always wanted to be in a play," said Emily, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy. "I was very excited. I couldn't wait for this day to come."

"She always wanted to be a star, and this has gone beyond our wildest expectations," said Ed Beazley, Emily's father.

As for Ventura, the former athlete admitted to being nervous before his acting role but said Emily put him at ease.

"Emily has a wish to be on stage and the White Sox as an organization have always jumped at the opportunity to help out and do stuff like this so it was a no brainer," Ventura said.
