Walmart Shooting Suspect Pleads Not Guilty in Reno Attempted Murder Case
RENO, Nev. (AP) A disgruntled Walmart employee accused of shooting three supervisors at a store in Reno last fall and holing up for several hours in a standoff with police has pleaded not guilty to three counts of attempted murder.
John Gillane also pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial harm.
The three managers were wounded but survived the Oct. 29 attack.
The 45-year-old Gillane eventually surrendered peacefully to police following negotiations with an officer who weeks earlier had responded to Gillane's Reno motel room because he was armed and suicidal.
Washoe District Judge Patrick Flanagan ordered Gillane to stand trial Aug. 15.
